Technology Rules Outdoor Spaces

It’s time to get your outdoor life blooming, and one way is to create a distinctive outdoors space.   And technology can be great for bringing comfort and low maintenance when you add on or refurbish.

Ease it up.

Deck materials made from recycled milk jugs and grocery bags or new plastics like vinyl are great for replacing wood.  You can play with color, texture and weight, and these new high tech materials lend themselves to interesting shapes and easy construction.

Eat it up.

One major trend is functional outdoor kitchens complete with cooking islands, pizza ovens, refrigerators and all-weather cabinetry and storage features.  And, of course, don’t forget the bar.

Light it up.

Look for more LED lights integrated into railings, stairs and yard to add safety and ambiance to outdoor spaces. And don’t forget the candles, tiki torches and fireplaces too.

Entertain it up.

From lighting and music controlled from a smart phone to motorized rear-projection screens synced to outdoor LED televisions, homeowners are now able to bring their entire entertainment system outdoors.

Heat it up.

Today’s infrared patio heaters utilize technology that provides instant and direct radiant heat that is based on the same natural effect that the sun provides, warming people and objects and not the air in between.  These fixtures come in all shapes and sizes. Whether dining alfresco, hosting a courtyard party, enjoying an intimate evening on a terrace or relaxing at home on your deck these new heaters provide warmth within seconds of switching them on creating cozy and comfortable spaces.
