2019 Interior Design Trends

What's so great about design? It's always fresh, new and exciting. And, the Sensory Six team is ringing in the New Year with these amazing interior design trends. Materials, finishes, design comebacks and more! Check out our favorite 2019 interior design trends that will improve your home and life and make your space feel exciting and brand-new.

MATERIALS & FINISHES

Renowned designer, Patricia Urquiola has demonstrated remarkable progress with materials and finishes, creating a collection of tables incorporating tempered, light as a feather glass. The glass on the tables have irregular veins, similar to those found in marble. Urquiola’s dynamic series of asymmetrical, oval-shaped tables and vein patterned glass tops are the perfect combination of sensual and compelling. Sensory Six loves bringing elegance, luxury and organic pieces into living spaces and we see this collection as the perfect opportunity to spice up your home this year.

NIGHTWATCH GREEN: THE COLOR OF THE YEAR

Say, “Hello!” to Nightwatch green. This color is a fresh alternative to today’s matte black trend. Moodier than hunter and bottle green, Nightwatch green looks great with high-shine finishes and elements. If you’re not interested in “greening” out the entire room, that’s no problem! Small, yet impactful elements like a vibrant textile or a deep green rug set against a radiant marble floor is a perfect way to bring the Color of the Year in.

ONE PIECE, MANY PURPOSES

Convertible dwellings are one of the most logical and fascinating designs yet. A home that is overflowing with genius, conversation-staring design? Yes, please! It goes to show that even the smallest of spaces can be designed with practicality and ease.

SMALL FURNITURE, BIG IMPACT

Smart, multi-purpose furnishings are in high demand as more people gravitate towards urban city dwelling. These furnishings are petite in scale and can adapt to multiple spaces and needs. Sensory Six works with its clientele to translate visions into reality through a thorough assessment process that focuses on both needs and tastes. Our goal is to create a space that is perfect in both form and function.

WELCOME BACK, BOHO

What better way to start the new year than with the promise of inviting colors, textures and patterns? Bohemian is a style that begs you to go maximalist to the max but, it's also a style that can be a little minimal and subdued. It can tip its hat to other eras, blend with other styles, or contrast a little, too! With the help of Sensory Six, we can create a home that incorporates a sense of color, texture, lighting and art that will delight all of your senses.

TERRAZZO IS BACK, TOO

Terrazzo surfaces and decorative extras are making a big impact on the design forecast. A composite material consisting of chips of marble, quartz, granite, and glass evoke a playful, confetti-like abstracted spirit. From flooring to lamps to even shower curtains, there are many ways to bring this material into your home.

LOOK UP: STATEMENT CEILINGS

We’ve discussed all the Wonders of Wallpaper and how to incorporate instant color and impact to your walls. But have you heard of statement ceilings? A reimagined ceiling that makes a room appear larger, brighter and more memorable than any common accent wall could.

CURVY FURNITURE

Curved soft furnishings made quite an impact at recently attended design shows. See how the crimson velveteen sofa above gives this masculine room a necessary sense of sensuality. Curved lines on tabletops and rugs have come and gone, but the return of sofas and seating is an intriguing design to bring into your home.

GEOMETRIC PATTERNS

Thanks to their symmetrical harmony, geometric patterns are most likely here to stay. While tribal patterns come and go as time and tastes change, the warmth, familiarity, and offset pattern that geometric patterns bring is why this design keeps making a comeback! While some don’t appreciate the full-on ethnic inspired look, try incorporating these patterns in small ways like fresh linens, decorative pillows and throws, and miniature framed prints.

GOING GREEN

One specialty area of Sensory Six is applying the best technology to provide you with living spaces that are highly functional and contribute to your overall health and wellness. This applies to everything from selecting health-conscious materials to incorporating automated systems. We are thrilled to see eco-friendly and sustainability in the design world, time and time again. From leftover materials and energy-saving applications, living walls, and more, we encourage designs that use production and décor that is both easy on the eye and leaves little to no impact on the environment.

In an industry that is constantly changing, there are always new ways to make to your interiors feel more updated, especially with a new year and new interior design trends to obsess over. Here at Sensory Six, we are excited to help update your home and create spaces that everyone will love to spend time in.
