Sensory Six Gives Back: 2017

“Giving back is among the most important and valuable things an entrepreneur can do. Period.” – Diane Richards

Why give back? Day to day life is a challenge. But realistically, there is always someone facing bigger and scarier obstacles. At Sensory Six, it’s important to us to give back and support the local community that has helped our business to grow and thrive over the years. We’re thankful for the people that our work has brought us in contact with, and we love the reward of knowing that we’ve made a difference in someone’s life. From volunteering for local organizations; attending group meetings and helping at fundraising events, to donating our design services and gift baskets, we love getting involved with our community in any way we can. Below is just one of the many donations we contributed as a raffle item to raise money for a cause close to home.

Our year of community involvement kicked off with the Saratoga County Chamber Dinner in January, the Palace Theatre Backstage Ball in March, and the Capital Region Chamber Dinner and American Red Cross Fire and Ice Gala in April.

In May, Sandra attended the Fruit and Flower Mission Spring Luncheon supporting Women’s Health Services at Saratoga Hospital. Each May, the classic ladies luncheon kicks off the Saratoga Summer season and brings together hundreds of women in our community to raise money for a passion we hold near and dear to our hearts.

Saratoga Hospital provides comprehensive women’s health services, including obstetrical care and preventive and primary gynecological care. Some services included are comfortable birthing suites with overnight accommodations for a support person, childbirth education programs and lactation consultants.

June brought the Saratoga Senior Center Music and Mingling event, Get Your Rack Back Cocktail Gala, and the Red, White and Blue party benefiting the American Cancer Society. In July, our team stayed busy attending Light Up the Night benefiting Albany Medical Center, 65 Roses Opening Day Soiree benefiting Cystic Fibrosis, the White Party benefiting Saratoga Bridges, and the Saratoga Social and Saratoga Living Summer Party. Below is a photograph of Samantha, Alisandra and little Chanel on the patio at Gaffney’s mixing and mingling at the Summer Party!

July wasn’t any less busy for us on the community events front: A Taste of Travers benefiting the Saratoga Senior Center, the Get Your Rack Back Golf Tournament, the Saratoga Fashion Show raising funds for the Ronald McDonald House, and the 30th Anniversary Pearl Gala benefiting the National Museum of Dance.

Get Your Rack Back’s first ever golf tournament at Van Patten Golf Tournament in Clifton Park was a day full of fun—18 holes, lunch and meeting some incredible, inspirational woman. With their mission of providing support, kindness, and needed items to cancer patients and their families in the Capital Region, this a cause we stand proudly behind.

Sandra rocked the runway in the Saratoga Fashion Show presented by Saratoga Trunk at the Saratoga Race Course with over 500 people in attendance. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region, Inc. promotes the health, development and wellbeing of children and their families, providing families of seriously ill children a home away from home.

The Pearl Gala at the National Museum of Dance is the Museum’s largest fundraiser and is the highlight of Saratoga’s summer season. After a long night of dinner and dancing, the 310 guests in attendance raised $300,000!

After a busy Saratoga Summer, we slowed down our pace attending A Seat at the Table with the Beekman Boys benefitting Proctors Theater.

What does this winter hold for Sensory Six? You’ll have to wait and see! If there is a fundraising event you think we should attend to benefit a local cause or charitable organization we could contribute our time, design services or a raffle item to, we would love to hear from you. After all, philanthropy is a central part of our business model.
