Creative Offices

What gets your creative juices flowing? Do you feel more inspired when the space around you is creative and innovative? Here at Sensory Six, we enjoy working in a space that sparks ideas as creative as the space itself. Offices are moving away from the traditional, boring cubicles to offices that stimulate all of the senses, have a certain theme, and encourage employees to work and collaborate. Continue reading for our favorite new trends at the office that will have you wanting an office overhaul!

Most of us dread heading back into work on Monday mornings, but when you work in a non-traditional setting, work doesn’t seem like a task! Having communal work environments lead to collaboration between individuals who might not usually work together, therefore expanding their ideas. Employers are finding that everyone is seeking more interaction not only at work, but in all public settings, like restaurants and hotels where large, shared tables are making an appearance. This is allowing for open concept spaces that tend to have a modern, minimalist and contemporary feel to them. Below is a communal office called Sandbox3. The office is a large, ultra modern-looking, co-working space that offers a communal office that's entirely free to use for businesses of all kinds.

It seems like every aspect of office life is shifting away from its former, traditional set up. We are seeing a trend in office themes, where they are taking the time to plan an overall design for the entire space, from the office lobby to the office bathrooms. Many offices are putting an emphasis on varied materials throughout the workplace to create environments that bring the outdoors in, incorporating reclaimed wood and exposed brick. We love the following Manchester-based communications agency, Ubiquitous, who’s work space mixes wood and tile in a beautiful, modern way.

Thanks to lighter, powerful wireless technology, the workspace has changed dramatically. People are now able to work from wherever they want due to the flexibility of their devices and the ability to have meetings over webcams. Permanent desks and one-purpose spaces are a thing of the past. We are seeing a rise in standing desks and hightop tables in place of the standard cubicle. In many office situations, pieces of furniture are being used for different purposes at different points of the day. At the ICRAVE office in New York, the reception desk can be turned into a DJ booth in the evening for events at the office!
